Our Philosophy

Training isn’t just about cues, it’s about communication, understanding, and relationship.

At Farley’s Friends, we believe that the strongest training starts with helping you understand your dog. Their body language, their emotions, their needs, and the way they move through the world.

When we learn to read our dogs clearly, we can support them better, advocate for them confidently, and build a relationship rooted in trust.

And while structure may sound strict, it’s actually the opposite... Structure is support.

It helps dogs feel safe, seen, and guided.

Because:

Structure now = more freedom later.

A dog who understands the world, trusts their handler, and knows what to expect, gets to experience more. More walks, more adventure, more confidence, more joy.

Our training focuses on:

  • helping you understand what your dog is communicating

  • reading early signs of stress, excitement, overwhelm, or curiosity

  • creating routines that support emotional regulation

  • building calmness and clarity

  • fostering a deeper, more connected relationship

  • supporting dogs with big feelings in a gentle, empowering way

Training isn’t something we do to dogs, it’s something we do with them, every day, in every interaction.

Walk n' Train: Real World Exposure    $99

Real life practice, emotional support, and skills your dog can use every day.

Sometimes you know what your dog needs to practice, but finding the time, the right environment or enough repetition during a busy week can be difficult.

Walk n Train combines a private walk with focused, one-on-one training in the places where those skills actually matter.

During the session, I do the hands-on work with your dog. Depending on their goals, we might practice loose leash walking, engagement, neutrality, recall, impulse control, regulation, threshold work or navigating real-world distractions.

These sessions are especially helpful for dogs who already have some training foundations but need additional repetition and thoughtful practice outside the home.

They can also be a great way to supplement private training by giving your dog another opportunity to practice the same skills with consistency.

Includes:

  • One 60 minute 1:1 training with me

  • Real-world exposure

  • Targeted and focused behaviour practice

  • Confidence building

  • Reinforcing foundations and manners

  • Video updates + homework

  • Optional touch-points for owners

  • Open communication for questions, progress updates and troubleshooting

A Collaborative Service

The Walk n Train service works best when we are working as a team.

I can give your dog valuable practice, help build new patterns and show you what those skills look like in real-world situations, but lasting change still depends on consistency with you outside of our sessions.

The videos and updates are there so you can see what I am doing, ask questions, and apply those same concepts during your own walks and daily routines.

Walk n Trains are not intended to replace private training or owner participation. For dogs with more complex behavioural concerns, I may recommend a Private Training Program so I can coach you directly and make sure you have the skills to continue the work yourself.

Think of the Walk n Train as an extra set of experienced hands helping move the training forward, while keeping you involved in the process.

Private Training

Private Training Sessions

Initial Investment

Initial Investment     $175

Required for all new training clients

Your Initial Assessment is the starting point for training with Farley’s Friends.

This extended session takes place after your complimentary Meet & Greet and gives us the time to move beyond introductions and really begin working with your dog.

We’ll talk through your concerns in more detail, look at your dog’s current behaviour, communication, environment and daily routines, and start working through the foundational skills that will have the biggest impact moving forward.

Depending on your dog, this may include marker words, engagement, leash handling, thresholds, settling, regulation, household structure, impulse control, confidence building or other skills specific to your goals.

The purpose of this session is not to squeeze your dog into a predetermined program. It is to give me a clear picture of the dog in front of me, give you practical tools you can begin using immediately, and determine the most appropriate next step together.

What’s included

  • An extended private training and assessment session

  • Discussion of your dog’s history, routines, challenges and goals

  • Observation of your dog’s behaviour and current skill level

  • Hands-on coaching and foundational training

  • Individualized recommendations based on your dog and household

  • Clear homework to begin practicing right away

  • A written session recap so you know exactly what to work on

  • A recommendation for the training program that best fits your needs

Following the Initial Assessment, you may continue into Puppy Primer, Teenage Toolkit or Big Feelings Blueprint in either a 4- or 6-session format.

The Initial Assessment counts as the first session of your chosen program, so you simply pay the remaining package balance when you decide to continue.

*For current Farley’s Friends clients:

Existing clients who I already know and have worked with may be able to move directly into one of the training programs without completing an Initial Assessment first.

If your dog’s needs have changed significantly or you’re looking for help with a new behavioural concern, I may recommend starting with an Initial Assessment so we can properly evaluate the situation before moving forward.

Puppy Primer

The Puppy Primer Program

A multi-session journey toward confidence, communication, and calm.

The first few months with a puppy are full of learning, and not just for the puppy.

Puppy Primer is designed to help build the foundations for a confident, thoughtful and well-rounded dog before difficult habits have time to become established. Rather than focusing only on obedience cues, we work on the everyday skills that make life together easier: communication, engagement, boundaries, settling, handling, impulse control and learning how to navigate the world without becoming overwhelmed by it.

This program for puppies up to 6 months who are still learning what is expected of them and for families who want to start with a strong foundation rather than wait until problems appear.

What we can work on

  • Marker words and clear communication

  • Engagement and responsiveness

  • Leash foundations

  • Recall foundations

  • Crate and rest routines

  • Place and settling skills

  • Household boundaries and thresholds

  • Polite greetings

  • Handling and cooperative care foundations

  • Confidence building

  • Appropriate socialization and neutrality

  • Preventing common puppy behaviours from becoming long-term habits

What’s included

  • Four or six private, one-on-one training sessions

  • An individualized plan based on your puppy, household and goals

  • Clear homework and practice recommendations between sessions

  • Demonstrations and hands-on coaching so you know how to practice the skills yourself

  • Troubleshooting and adjustments as your puppy progresses

  • Support understanding puppy behaviour, development and realistic expectations

  • Follow-up notes and resources where helpful

The six-session option is ideal for families who want more time to build, progress and practice skills in increasingly distracting real-world environments.

4-session package — $580

6-session package — $810

When we understand our dogs, we can support them better.
When we support them better, they can explore the world with confidence.

This is where “structure now = freedom later” truly comes to life.

Teenage Toolkit

Teenage Toolkit

Somewhere around six months old, that sweet little puppy may start testing boundaries.

The teenage stage can bring pulling, barking, jumping, frustration, overexcitement, selective hearing, and seemingly endless energy. Skills your dog once understood may suddenly feel much less reliable, especially when the outside world becomes more interesting than you.

Teenage Toolkit is designed for adolescent dogs approximately six months to two years old who need help turning early foundations into real-world skills.

We focus on creating clearer communication, better engagement, stronger boundaries and more thoughtful decision-making while helping you understand what is happening underneath the behaviour.

The goal is not a perfectly obedient dog. It is a dog who can navigate everyday life with more confidence, self-control and connection to their person.

What we can work on

  • Loose leash walking

  • Engagement around distractions

  • Recall and long-line skills

  • Impulse control

  • Place and settling

  • Household boundaries

  • Door and threshold manners

  • Jumping and overexcitement

  • Frustration and demanding behaviours

  • Calm greetings

  • Neutrality around people, dogs and the environment

  • Building independence and regulation

  • Learning how and when to increase difficulty using duration, distance and distraction

What’s included

  • Four or six private, one-on-one training sessions

  • An individualized training plan based on your dog and your everyday life

  • Hands-on coaching for both dog and handler

  • Practical homework that fits into your existing routine

  • Real-world training where appropriate

  • Troubleshooting and adjustments as behaviours change

  • Guidance on structure, boundaries, enrichment, rest and regulation

  • Follow-up notes and resources where helpful

The six-session option allows us to move beyond teaching the skills and spend more time applying them in the situations where your dog actually struggles.

This program is designed for families who want to go beyond introductory training. We work together to understand your dog deeply, support their emotions, and build confidence through play, real-world skills and structure.

4-session package — $620

6-session package — $870

Big Feelings Blueprint

Big Feelings Blueprint

For dogs who bark, lunge, freeze, panic, become overwhelmed or struggle to regulate themselves, there is rarely one quick fix.

Big Feelings Blueprint is an individualized training program for reactive, fearful, anxious, frustrated or highly stimulated dogs.

Rather than focusing only on stopping the reaction itself, we look at the bigger picture.

Reactivity is often the point where many smaller pieces come together: arousal, frustration, environment, communication, leash skills, recovery, rest, predictability, handler movement and the dog’s ability to make thoughtful choices when the world feels difficult.

That means we build from the ground up.

We may spend time on skills that seem small at first, such as settling on a place bed, waiting at a doorway, following leash pressure, disengaging from the environment or simply being still. Those foundations are what eventually give your dog something to fall back on when the harder moments appear.

The goal is not to force your dog through situations they cannot handle. It is to help you understand the dog in front of you and give both of you practical skills for navigating the world more successfully.

What we can work on

  • Dog, people or environmental reactivity

  • Fearful and anxious behaviour

  • Frustration and barrier reactivity

  • Trigger management

  • Thresholds and recovery

  • Engagement around distractions

  • Leash handling and positioning

  • Counter-conditioning and desensitization

  • Neutrality work

  • Regulation and settling

  • Building confidence

  • Increasing handler relevance

  • Creating realistic setups for success

  • Understanding when to train, when to create distance and when to simply leave

What’s included

  • Four or six private, one-on-one training sessions

  • An individualized behaviour and training plan

  • Hands-on coaching for you and your dog

  • Real-world practice when your dog is ready for it

  • Clear homework between sessions

  • Troubleshooting as new situations or challenges arise

  • Guidance on management, environment, thresholds and recovery

  • Video review or between-session questions where appropriate

  • Follow-up notes and resources to help you continue the work at home

For most reactivity cases, the six-session program is recommended. Behaviour change takes repetition, progression and time, and having additional sessions gives us more opportunity to build the foundations before moving into increasingly challenging situations.

6-session package — $930
